Job Description

At Gentle Dental, we value our teammate’s smile as much as our patient’s smile.

A Different Kind of Hygiene Role

This isn't a traditional chair-side position. If you're a hygienist who wants independence, meaningful community impact, and the opportunity to practice at the top of your license, this role was built for you.

Capitol Dental is hiring a Full-Time Expanded Practice Dental Hygienist (EPDH) , with a primary focus on our school-based dental sealant program. You'll help bring preventive oral healthcare directly to children in local schools, expanding access to care and making a measurable difference in the oral health of students throughout the community.

In addition to school-based services, you'll support Capitol Dental's broader Community Outreach program, bringing care to patients in community and healthcare settings where access to traditional dental care may be limited.

Why Capitol Dental

Our vision is simple: provide exceptional, lifelong, integrated oral healthcare — and make it accessible to every patient, in every setting. We believe oral health is foundational to overall wellbeing, and that means reaching patients beyond the four walls of a traditional clinic.

We're a team of people who care, listen, and show up for our communities. We build meaningful relationships with our patients, schools, community partners, medical providers, and each other — and we're looking for a provider who shares that commitment.

What You'll Do

As an EPDH, your primary focus will be delivering preventive dental care through our school sealant program in the Salem area. You'll work independently in school and community settings while collaborating with Capitol Dental's clinical and outreach teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing school-based preventive dental services, with a strong emphasis on dental sealants and improving access to care for children

Conducting assessments, intra-oral photos, x-rays, and hygiene services independently within your scope of practice

Educating students, families, school staff, and community partners about oral health and preventive care

Helping coordinate school sealant events, schedules, patient participation, and follow-up care

Identifying students who need additional dental treatment and coordinating appropriate referrals

Collaborating with a tele-dentist via state-of-the-art telehealth technology for chart review, diagnosis, and restorative treatment planning

Prescribing antibiotics when necessary and with guidance from your collaborative dentist to help stabilize patients until they can be seen for restorative care

Coordinating referrals for restorative care with local dental providers

Performing scoop and fill procedures (training provided for those not yet certified)

Serving as an Oral Health Champion in schools and other assigned community settings

Partnering with school personnel, medical providers, and community organizations to integrate oral health into overall health and wellness

Managing your schedule proactively to keep access to care moving and patient flow on track

Handling administrative responsibilities, including insurance verification and electronic health records across dental and medical EHR platforms

Supporting community networking, outreach, and patient recruitment efforts

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, connecting with children and families, and building strong relationships with schools and community partners. You'll have the autonomy to manage your work while being part of a team committed to expanding access to oral healthcare.
