Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave. This vital role involves providing exceptional patient care, supporting dental health education, and assisting with clinical procedures in a fast-paced, friendly environment. As a Dental Hygienist for maternity leave, you will ensure that patients receive thorough cleanings, assessments, and preventive care while maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient confidentiality. Your expertise will help foster a positive experience for our patients and support the overall efficiency of our dental practice.
Duties
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to promote optimal oral health.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve workflow and patient comfort.
Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while ensuring proper infection control protocols are followed.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable.
Manage medical records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
Review documentation for accuracy, update medical and dental histories, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes.
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification.
Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments.
Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with EMR systems is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques.
Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly.
Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and medical imaging techniques related to dental care.
Ability to work efficiently in a team environment while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and medical records management.
