Duties
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to ensure optimal oral health.
Conduct patient assessments by evaluating vital signs, oral health status, and medical history using dental terminology and medical documentation standards.
Assist in procedures related to general dentistry, prosthodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, and pediatric dentistry as needed.
Utilize dental software such as Eaglesoft to accurately document medical records, treatment plans, and patient progress while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental health.
Collaborate with the dental team—including dentists and dental assistants—to ensure smooth workflow and excellent patient experiences.
Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, ensuring all instruments are sterilized according to safety protocols.
Requirements
Valid Dental Hygienist license with current state licensure.
Proven experience in dental hygiene or dental clinic experience preferred; familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding standards.
Proficiency in taking vital signs and performing patient assessments with attention to detail.
Experience working across various specialties such as prosthodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, or periodontics is a plus.
Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with team members.
Ability to adhere strictly to HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy and confidentiality.
Knowledge of dental assisting procedures and general dentistry workflows enhances your effectiveness in this role.
