Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental x-ray equipment, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis
Assess patient vital signs and medical history to ensure safe treatment planning and delivery
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term health
Assist dentists during various procedures with chairside assisting, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort
Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting all treatments and patient interactions
Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental instruments, to uphold the highest standards of infection control and HIPAA compliance
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures
Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, with a strong understanding of pediatric dentistry nuances preferred
Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation and billing
Familiarity with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing electronic health records (EHR) and documentation review
Knowledge of dental equipment operation, including ultrasonic scalers, handpieces, and radiography units
Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about their oral health needs
Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and infection prevention management
