Duties
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to monitor patient health.
Assist with medical imaging procedures like X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, documenting findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
Support chairside assisting during various procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings using aseptic techniques.
Maintain infection control standards by adhering to HIPAA regulations, proper sterilization procedures, and infection prevention protocols.
Review documentation for accuracy, ensure compliance with medical coding standards, and update medical records consistently.
Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth clinic operations while demonstrating excellent patient care and communication skills.
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting.
Proven experience working in dental offices or clinics, with familiarity using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix preferred.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
Experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus, along with skills in pediatric patient care and behavior management.
Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in a fast-paced environment using four-handed dentistry techniques.
Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs accurately and communicate clearly.
Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, medical imaging procedures, and documentation review processes.
