Responsibilities
Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health.
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, treatment plans, and post-procedure care to promote long-term dental health.
Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Follow HIPAA guidelines strictly to protect patient privacy and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
Proven experience in dental office settings with familiarity in dental terminology, medical coding, and documentation review.
Proficiency with Dentrix for efficient recordkeeping.
Strong knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic technique, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
Experience working with patients of all ages.
Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement and medical imaging with precision and professionalism.
