Responsibilities
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow.
Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Follow strict HIPAA guidelines to protect patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
Skills
Proficiency in dental software platforms such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic technique.
Experience working with pediatric dentistry patients and understanding of pediatric-specific procedures.
Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards.
Familiarity with medical coding, medical terminology, and medical records management in a dental setting.
Knowledge of general dentistry procedures along with specialized skills in pediatric dentistry when needed.
Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate seamlessly with the dental team.
