Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to cover a medical leave from June 22 - July 2, 2026. Your role is very important to our practice because your care is their initial contact with the prac and their experience must be a great experience. Your primary responsibility is to do what you do best, gentle and through prophy/perio maintenance and oral hygiene instructions.You must be passionate and have excellent communication skills - if that sound like you, we would love to hear from you!
Duties:
- Perform dental cleanings, including removing plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct thorough oral examinations to identify any signs of oral diseases or abnormalities
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Administer local anesthesia as directed by the dentist
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide personalized oral care instructions
- Assist the dentist during procedures by handing them instruments and maintaining a sterile field
- Perform dental charting and maintain accurate patient records
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient and effective patient care
Qualifications:
- Valid state dental hygiene license
- Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- Knowledge of medical coding and documentation practices
- Proficiency in using dental software systems for patient records management
- Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control protocols
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy practices
- Strong knowledge of dental anatomy, oral health conditions, and treatment options
- Ability to take accurate vital signs and record medical history information
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
