Job Description

Job Summary
Are you a licensed dental hygienist who wants to grow beyond traditional hygiene?

At Metropolitan Periodontists, we are redefining what it means to provide periodontal care. Our Periodontal Practitioner role is designed for someone who is curious, clinically driven, and excited to take a more active role in treating periodontal disease. In this role, you will provide periodontal maintenance care, support surgical flow, complete new patient intakes, work alongside our periodontists in the co-discovery of patient care, and educate patients about their periodontal needs.

We know perio can feel intimidating at first. We do not expect you to come in knowing everything. We are willing to train the right person and help you gradually develop advanced skills alongside our periodontists and clinical team.

No two days look exactly the same. This is a dynamic clinical role with variety, growth, and purpose. It is ideal for someone who takes ownership, strives for excellence, and wants to grow into a higher-level role within a supportive, team-centered specialty practice.

Duties
Provide periodontal maintenance care utilizing EMS Airflow.

Perform scaling and root planing using PerioView/Perioscopy technology.

Support LANAP-related periodontal therapy in collaboration with the periodontist.

Assist with new patient exams by completing intake, gathering clinical information, participating in co-discovery, and educating patients on their periodontal needs.

Assist the periodontists during surgical procedures.

Prepare surgical sites with local anesthesia and localized scaling/root planing.

Utilize advanced periodontal technology and adjuncts, including EMS Airflow, PerioView/Perioscopy, and HybenX.

Maintain accurate clinical documentation in Curve Dental while following HIPAA guidelines.

Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic technique, operatory preparation, and instrument sterilization.

Qualifications
Current Minnesota Dental Hygiene license required.

Local anesthesia certification.

Minimum 5 years dental hygiene experience required.

Periodontal experience preferred, but not required, we are willing to train the right person.

Strong desire to grow beyond traditional hygiene and develop advanced periodontal skills.

Excellent communication skills and ability to educate patients with confidence, clarity, and compassion.

Detail-oriented with strong clinical judgment, follow-through, and ownership of patient care.

Comfortable working in a team-centered environment alongside periodontists, hygienists, assistants, and administrative team members.

Willingness to learn advanced periodontal technology, including EMS Airflow, PerioView/Perioscopy, and HybenX.

Commitment to clinical excellence and creating an elevated patient experience.

At Metropolitan Periodontists, we hold ourselves to a high standard and take pride in providing specialty-level periodontal care with intention and excellence. This role is ideal for someone who wants more than a traditional hygiene schedule and is excited by variety, ownership, clinical growth, and meaningful patient care. If you are ready to expand your skills and step into a higher-level clinical role, we would be excited to meet you.
