Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care to promote long-term dental health.
Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside support, ensuring aseptic techniques and infection control protocols are strictly followed.
Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring accurate positioning and safety measures are maintained.
Maintain detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Adhere to HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling sensitive medical information responsibly.
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting.
Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred.
Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques.
Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
Experience with vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient assessment techniques.
