Job Overview

Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
Take and develop dental x-rays using advanced imaging equipment, ensuring precise diagnostic quality
Assess patient vital signs and medical history to support accurate treatment planning
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside assisting, including handling dental instruments and materials
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation within electronic health records (EHR) systems such as OPEN DENTAL
Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental tools and equipment
Review medical and dental histories to ensure patient safety and compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality
Conduct patient assessments to identify oral health issues early and recommend appropriate interventions
Support pediatric dentistry cases by adapting communication techniques for young patients in a friendly manner
Skills
Proficiency with dental software systems such as open dental for scheduling, documentation.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices
Expertise in dental equipment operation, including X-ray machines, ultrasonic scalers, and sterilization tools
Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and patient care tailored to children’s needs
Excellent client communication skills to educate patients effectively about their oral health status
Ability to perform four-handed dentistry efficiently alongside the dentist for streamlined patient care
Deep understanding of healthcare infection prevention, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques
Familiarity with EMR/EHR management to ensure accurate documentation review and compliance with HIPAA regulations
Knowledge of general dentistry procedures, dental assisting techniques, and medical records management
