Responsibilities
Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Conduct thorough patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow.
Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term health.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Follow infection control procedures in accordance with HIPAA regulations and best practices for sterilization.
Support pediatric dentistry cases by creating a friendly environment for young patients and understanding their specific needs.
Review documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with medical coding standards and legal requirements.
Experience
Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental clinic or general dentistry practice.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and medical terminology is essential.
Experience with pediatric dentistry or working with children is a plus.
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and medical records management.
Previous chairside assisting experience, especially in pediatric or general dentistry settings, is advantageous.
