Overview

Duties
Perform comprehensive dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth to prevent decay and gum disease.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to tailor personalized treatment plans.
Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging), applying sealants, and providing fluoride treatments.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, dietary habits, and post-treatment care to promote long-term oral health.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Follow strict infection control protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Support the dental team with general dentistry procedures and pediatric dentistry needs, demonstrating expertise in pediatric dentistry when applicable.
Skills
Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record keeping.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control standards.
Experience with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
Ability to perform vital signs assessment and medical coding accurately for billing purposes.
Skilled in pediatric dentistry practices and comfortable working with children of all ages.
Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to patient assessment and education.
