Duties
Greet patients warmly and provide exceptional customer service at the front desk, ensuring a positive first impression
Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Open dental
Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private plans, utilizing systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or EMR platforms such as eClinicalWorks or EHR systems
Collect payments and perform medical collections with accuracy and professionalism
Manage patient records and documentation review to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality
Assist with insurance claims processing, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing procedures
Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette; handle inquiries related to dental procedures, billing, or appointment scheduling
Support office management tasks such as filing medical records, maintaining office supplies, and coordinating clinic activities
Experience
Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred
Demonstrated proficiency with dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and health information management systems
Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and dental practice management software like Dentrix or Open Dental
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical billing procedures to ensure compliance and accurate documentation
Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and medical administrative support tasks
Previous experience in front desk or medical receptionist roles involving patient service, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and clerical support
