Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere
Manage patient check-in and check-out processes with accuracy and efficiency
Schedule appointments using dental practice management software, ensuring optimal patient flow
Verify insurance coverage, process payments, and handle billing inquiries with attention to detail
Billing services
Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other confidentiality policies
Answer multi-line phone systems promptly, providing excellent patient service and information
Assist with medical documentation review, coding (including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and insurance claims processing
Support clinical staff by preparing patient charts, updating electronic health records (EHR systems), and managing correspondence
Handle administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing clinic supplies
Requirements
Proven experience as a dental receptionist with clinic or healthcare office background
Back office experience is a plus
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms
Strong knowledge of health insurance procedures including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing
Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly
Ability to review medical documentation accurately and perform medical coding using ICD-9/ICD-10 codes
Bilingual skills are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, documentation review, and scheduling
Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare regulations such as HIPAA is essential
Previous dental clinic experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided for specific systems used
