Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Dental Receptionist to join our vibrant Orthodontic team! In this vital role, you will be the friendly face and efficient coordinator at the front desk, ensuring a seamless experience for our patients from check-in to check-out. Duties
Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a positive first impression
Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software such as Dolphine, Eaglesoft or Dentrix
Collect patient co-pays and outstanding balances, maintaining meticulous financial records
Manage patient intake forms and update electronic health records (EHR systems) including eClinicalWorks and other EMR platforms
Review and verify medical and dental documentation for completeness and accuracy
Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries promptly
Documentation review to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
Maintain organized dental records, files, and correspondence in accordance with health information management standards
Support office management tasks such as filing, faxing, copying, and data entry using Microsoft Office tools
Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations and patient flow
Verify insurance benefits for procedures including Medicare or other third-party payers
Assist in the preparation of care plans and follow-up appointments as needed
Uphold confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all patient interactions and record handling
Experience
Prior experience working as a medical or dental receptionist is highly preferred; clinic or dental office experience is ideal
Demonstrated proficiency with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is a plus
Strong understanding of medical terminology, ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures
Experience in insurance verification, claims processing, and Medicare documentation review
Bilingual skills are advantageous to serve diverse patient populations effectively
Proven ability to provide excellent customer service in fast-paced healthcare environments
Solid clerical skills including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and multi-line phone handling
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to health information management and confidentiality standards
Office management experience within a healthcare setting is beneficial but not required
