Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our vibrant dental practice. In this vital role, you will be the welcoming face of our clinic, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience from the moment they walk through the door. Your energetic approach and exceptional organizational skills will help coordinate appointments, manage patient records, and facilitate seamless communication between patients and our dental team.
Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing outstanding customer service at all times
Schedule patient appointments efficiently using dental office management software such as Open Dental
Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verifications accurately
Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, including collecting co-pays and updating personal information
Maintain and organize patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Meditech, Epic, or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
Assist with Dental billing processes, including coding procedures using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes, and managing claims submissions for Medicare and other insurers
Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring proper coding for procedures and treatments
Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette to answer inquiries, schedule appointments, and relay messages promptly
Support front desk operations by managing filing systems, medical records, and general clerical tasks such as data entry and typing with high accuracy (including 10 key typing)
Coordinate with dental staff regarding patient care plans, treatment schedules, and intake procedures
Conduct follow-up calls for appointment reminders or patient inquiries to enhance patient engagement
Maintain knowledge of dental terminology and clinic-specific protocols to assist in daily operations effectively
Requirements
Proven experience as a Dental Receptionist within a dental setting; clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred
Strong familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Open Dental
Knowledge of medical coding including CPT, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards; experience with medical billing is a plus
Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and secure handling of patient information
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software
Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette in handling multi-line phone systems
Ability to review medical documentation accurately while maintaining attention to detail
Bilingual abilities are advantageous to serve diverse patient populations effectively
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Previous experience working with dental terminology and clinic management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is preferred
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in medical administration or healthcare support is beneficial
