Job Description
The incumbent is responsible for providing dental front office services, including registering patients, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurances. Must possess good communication skills and be able to establish rapport with the patients & their families. Works closely with back office to update the patient and provide efficient patient care. Responsible for HIPAA compliance.
Primary Responsibilities:
A. Maintain a positive image of CVIH by greeting patients in a professional manner and seeing their comfort and sense of well-being during their clinic visit. Inform patients of any changes that may delay their appointment/visit.
B. Ensure the patient kiosk is working properly every day.
C. Check-in patient by verifying personal information, collecting insurance card(s), and obtaining annual consents. Ensure the electronic medical record is updated and all necessary documents are scanned.
D. Responsible for verifying insurance eligibility before patient is seen. Copies of changes in methods of payment must be scanned into the Dental record.
E. Collect co-pays and deduct share of costs, as needed. Record and balance daily cash receipts and properly route to the Fiscal Department.
F. Answer telephone in courteous and efficient manner; provide information to callers or route to appropriate staff.
G. Responsible for cancelling/rescheduling appointments based on provider schedule.
H. Notify Eligibility department if patient community changes.
I. Prepare and distribute routine dental correspondence and reports.
J. Notify patients by mailing letters that they have missed their appointment and need to reschedule.
K. Serve as back-up to the Dental Referral Clerk as needed, performing duties including but not limited to communicating with patients regarding the cost of treatment, submitting insurance pre-authorizations, and processing dental referral
L. Maintain patient confidentiality according to CVIH standards and protocols.
M. Communicate in a friendly and professional manner to others. Provide excellent service/support to all patients, employees, and outside contacts.
N. Any other duties assigned to the employee by his or her direct supervisor or CVIH Administration.
Requirements:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. One year’s experience in a dental office is preferred.
3. RDA or CDA preferred.
4. Requires an awareness and keen appreciation of Indian traditions, customs and socioeconomic needs; an ability at times to meet and deal effectively with Indian health organizations consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures which requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.

Summary:
This position is full-time Monday through Friday from 8:00-5:00. The position is primarily based out of the CVIH Temperance location, however, may cover other sites as needed. Drive time, mileage, and a company car are offered when providing coverage.
Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
