Job Summary
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Dental Receptionist, where you will be the friendly face and efficient coordinator at the front desk of our busy dental practice. Your energetic approach and exceptional organizational skills will ensure smooth patient flow, accurate appointment scheduling, and seamless communication between patients and clinical staff. This vital role combines administrative excellence with compassionate patient service, supporting our mission to deliver outstanding dental care in a welcoming environment. You will handle a variety of administrative and clerical tasks, manage electronic health records, and uphold strict confidentiality standards to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
Duties
Greet patients warmly, verify insurance details, and assist with new patient registration processes
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks
Manage patient check-in/check-out procedures efficiently while maintaining accurate documentation review and data entry
Handle medical billing and collections, including processing payments via health insurance platforms like Athenahealth or Medicare
Maintain and update patient records in compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, providing clear information and directing calls appropriately
Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as preparing care plans, reviewing documentation, and managing medical records
Skills
Experience with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms
Strong knowledge of medical coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), ICD coding, and medical billing procedures
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation review and office management tasks
Excellent customer service skills with bilingual capabilities preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively
Familiarity with health insurance processes, Medicare guidelines, and health information management standards
Demonstrated ability to handle medical administrative support duties such as appointment scheduling, phone communication, typing (including 10-key typing), and maintaining medical records
Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies along with strong organizational skills to manage electronic health records (EHR) systems like eClinicalWorks or similar platforms
