Overview

Duties
Greet patients warmly and professionally, establishing a positive first impression
Schedule and confirm patient appointments using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems including eClinicalWorks, Meditech, or similar platforms to ensure accurate documentation review and maintenance
Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently and courteously
Collect payments, perform medical collections, and process financial transactions accurately
Maintain organized medical records, ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies, and support documentation review processes
Assist with insurance verification, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and billing procedures related to dental and medical services
Support clinical staff by managing patient intake forms, care plans, and appointment scheduling in a fast-paced environment
File paperwork systematically, update patient information diligently, and support office management tasks to keep the front desk running smoothly
Experience
Previous experience working as a medical or dental receptionist in a clinical setting is highly preferred
Familiarity with dental terminology and medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) is essential for accurate documentation and billing processes
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms is required
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (10 key typing) are necessary for daily administrative tasks
Knowledge of health insurance procedures including verification, Medicare guidelines, ICD coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards is important
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems confidently and professionally
Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
Clinic or dental office experience will give you an edge in understanding workflow dynamics and clinical terminology
