Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and organized Dental Receptionist / Front Desk team member to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, insurance verification, and medical record management. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with various Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, and a strong understanding of dental terminology and administrative procedures. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations. The position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment with a focus on delivering exceptional patient service.
Duties
Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure
Schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance claims processing using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
Collect patient payments and perform medical billing and coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes
Manage patient records ensuring HIPAA compliance and accurate documentation review
Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and assist with patient inquiries
Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems like eClinicalWorks or Meditech
Assist with intake procedures, including collecting medical history and updating health information
Handle filing, data entry, and other clerical tasks such as typing, 10-key typing, and document management
Support office management tasks including appointment reminders, follow-up calls, and care plan documentation
Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the front desk area while maintaining compliance with health information management standards
Experience
Prior experience in a medical or dental office setting is highly preferred, especially in front desk or administrative support roles
Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is desirable
Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is advantageous
Familiarity with medical billing, coding (ICD-9/ICD-10/CPT), insurance verification, and Medicare processes is beneficial
Strong understanding of dental terminology and clinic procedures enhances performance in this role
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) are required
Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally
Bilingual abilities can improve communication with diverse patient populations
