Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our team. In this vital role, you will be the friendly face and organized voice of our clinic, ensuring smooth patient flow and exceptional administrative support. Your energy and professionalism will help create a welcoming environment where patients feel cared for from their first contact to their final appointment. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about providing outstanding patient service, proficient with electronic health records (EHR) systems, and knowledgeable about medical billing and coding processes.
Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and check in efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records).
Manage patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and rescheduling to optimize clinic flow.
Handle all incoming phone calls with professionalism, providing accurate information and directing inquiries appropriately.
Collect and process payments, including medical collections and insurance claims, ensuring accuracy in documentation review and billing procedures.
Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic confidentiality policies.
Assist with insurance verification, health insurance knowledge application, and explanation of coverage details to patients.
Support clinical staff by managing medical records, filing documents, and performing administrative tasks such as typing reports and managing office supplies.
Utilize EMR/EHR systems to document patient interactions, update care plans, and ensure seamless health information management.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative support role; dental clinic experience is highly preferred.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
Knowledge of medical billing procedures including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards, Medicare policies, and health insurance processes.
Excellent customer service skills with phone etiquette and the ability to communicate clearly with diverse patient populations; bilingual abilities are a plus.
Ability to review clinical documentation accurately while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and documentation review tasks.
Office experience demonstrating clerical expertise in a fast-paced environment; familiarity with health information management is advantageous.
Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude; previous front desk or medical office management experience is preferred.
