Duties
Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage front desk operations, including multi-line phone systems and patient check-in/check-out procedures
Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring optimal patient flow
Verify insurance coverage and benefits through insurance portals like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or other EHR systems, and communicate coverage details clearly to patients
Collect payments, process medical billing, and perform medical collection activities in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Maintain meticulous medical records by reviewing documentation, updating care plans, and ensuring proper filing within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech
Assist with insurance coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding to ensure accurate billing and documentation
Manage appointment reminders, patient inquiries, and follow-up communications with excellent phone etiquette and typing skills
Experience
Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred
Demonstrated proficiency with dental office management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, as well as EMR systems such as Epic or Meditech
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, dental terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and health information management standards
Experience handling insurance verification processes for Medicare, Medicaid, or commercial plans using platforms like Athenahealth or EHR systems
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with multi-line phone systems and 10 key typing
Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
Proven customer service skills combined with clerical experience in a healthcare setting to support efficient office management
