Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist/Insurance Billing specialist to join our vibrant dental practice. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing exceptional customer service while efficiently managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and insurance verification. Your expertise in medical billing, coding, and insurance claims processing will ensure smooth financial operations and accurate documentation. Greet patients warmly, manage patient check-in and check-out processes with professionalism and efficiency
Verify insurance coverage using systems such as Epic, Meditech, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Athenahealth to confirm eligibility and benefits
Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances accurately while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations
Prepare and submit insurance claims using CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 codes, and medical billing procedures
Review documentation for accuracy and completeness before submitting claims to Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurers
Follow up on unpaid claims through medical collection processes and communicate with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies
Maintain organized medical records and ensure all patient information is up-to-date within EMR systems such as eClinicalWorks or other EHR platforms
Manage appointment scheduling utilizing front desk software; handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette
Assist patients with intake procedures, explain treatment plans, and answer inquiries about billing or insurance coverage
Stay current on healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and CPT/ICD coding updates to ensure accurate documentation
Requirements
Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist with a strong background in insurance billing and coding
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards, CPT coding, and Medicare/Medicaid billing procedures
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; experience with dental office management software preferred
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security
Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clear communication abilities
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Bilingual skills are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with dental terminology is advantageous
