Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice which is open Monday through Thursday. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and administrative support. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical office systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare documentation and billing procedures. Dental Receptionists play a vital role in ensuring smooth office operations while providing exceptional patient service. This role offers an opportunity to be an integral part of the Belmont Dental team dedicated to providing outstanding patient care through efficient administrative support.
Duties
Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression
Manage appointment scheduling using OpenDental and Weave
Verify insurance coverage, benefit details, insurance plan provisions and maximums
Collect payments and handle billing and collections accurately
Process insurance claims and submit pre-authorizations to insurance companies
Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards
Review documentation for accuracy and completeness
Assist patients with intake forms, medical history updates, and other administrative paperwork
Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette
Process specialist referrals
Ensure all office procedures adhere to HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality standards
Manage front desk operations including filing, data entry, maintaining organized records, and general clerical duties
Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable with all necessary stationery and materials
Work as part of a team with emphasis on communication
Assist with presenting and scheduling treatment plans
Receive, sort and distribute daily mail/deliveries
Experience
Prior experience in a dental office setting is highly preferred
Familiarity with dental terminology and insurance billing processes
Proficiency with dental practice management software such as OpenDental is preferred
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and data entry accuracy
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle patient inquiries professionally
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information management practices
Administrative experience in a healthcare environment is desirable
Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
*Pay is negotiable based upon experience
