Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Dental Receptionist, where your friendly demeanor and organizational skills will be the first point of contact for patients entering our dental clinic. In this vital role, you will manage patient interactions, coordinate appointments, and ensure seamless communication between patients and the dental care team. Your expertise in medical administrative support and familiarity with dental terminology will help create a welcoming environment while maintaining efficient office operations. Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly and handle all front desk duties with professionalism and enthusiasm
Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and process claims using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
Collect payments, process billing, and manage medical collections efficiently
Maintain accurate medical records and review documentation for completeness and compliance with HIPAA regulations
Answer multi-line phone systems promptly with excellent phone etiquette; direct calls appropriately
Assist with patient intake procedures, including data entry and updating electronic health records (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech
Support office management tasks including filing, appointment reminders, and managing patient flow throughout the clinic
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations while handling sensitive medical information
Collaborate with dental professionals to facilitate care plans and coordinate patient services
Skills
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical coding (ICD-10, CPT), and insurance verification processes
Proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth; experience with dental-specific software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly preferred
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10 key typing)
Demonstrated experience in medical billing, coding (ICD coding), and documentation review for accuracy and compliance
Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on patient service excellence and effective communication in bilingual settings if applicable
Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with multi-line phone systems and health information management practices is a plus
Ability to handle clerical tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a busy environment
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and security of patient information
