Job Description
Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Dental Receptionist, where your energetic and welcoming attitude will set the tone for an exceptional patient experience. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, managing appointments, verifying insurance, and ensuring smooth administrative operations within our busy dental clinic. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will contribute to the efficient running of our practice while providing outstanding customer service. Our office hours are Monday-Thursday, 7:30AM - 6:30PM.
Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly, answer multi-line phone systems, and manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing using systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth to ensure accurate medical billing and coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes.
Maintain precise medical records and documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards.
Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical history and updating electronic health records (EHR systems) such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech.
Manage front desk operations efficiently by filing, faxing, and performing clerical tasks with strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and office management software.
Support medical administrative functions such as insurance verification, appointment confirmations, and patient service inquiries with excellent phone etiquette.
Ensure confidentiality of all patient information while providing exceptional customer service in a bilingual capacity if applicable.
Experience
Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency with dental terminology, medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and billing practices including Medicare and Medicaid procedures.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms; experience with Epic, OpenDental is preferred.
Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and health information management practices.
Excellent clerical skills including typing (10 key typing), filing, data entry, and managing multi-line phone systems.
Proven ability to handle medical scheduling, insurance verification, and documentation review with accuracy and efficiency.
