Job Summary
Join our team! Sussex Dental is looking for a hardworking, compassionate dental receptionist willing to continue the tradition of providing excellent care to our loyal patients. Our office has been a staple amongst the Sussex community for over 30 years. We're a two doctor, private-practice office which prides itself on providing personalized service in a relaxing environment. Our ideal candidate is a kind devoted, team-player with effective communication skills.
Duties
Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and facilitate check-in procedures using Dentrix.
Schedule appointments efficiently while managing calendar updates and rescheduling as needed to optimize clinic flow
Collect and process payments, insurance information, and perform medical billing using health insurance knowledge including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers
Review medical documentation for accuracy, ensuring proper CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding, ICD-9/10 diagnosis codes, and documentation review for billing purposes
Maintain accurate medical records by filing electronic health records (EHR), updating patient information, and ensuring compliance with clinical confidentiality policies
Answer phone calls professionally, providing excellent patient service with clear phone etiquette and effective communication skills
Support administrative tasks such as data entry with high typing accuracy (including 10-key typing), filing paper records when necessary, and managing office supplies
Experience
Previous experience in a dental or medical office setting is highly preferred, especially in clinic environments involving patient intake and scheduling
Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or similar platforms is essential for efficient record management
Familiarity with health insurance policies, Medicare guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and clinical confidentiality policies is required to ensure compliance
Experience working in a healthcare environment with strong customer service focus—especially front desk or receptionist roles—will set you up for success in this position
