Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Dental Receptionist/Treatment Coordinator to join our vibrant dental team. In this role, you will be the friendly first point of contact for patients, ensuring a warm and professional experience from the moment they walk through our doors. You will manage appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, insurance verification, and treatment planning. Your expertise in medical and dental administrative processes will help streamline operations, enhance patient satisfaction, and support the delivery of exceptional dental care. Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression and smooth check-in process
Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Dentrix
Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
Collect patient information, update medical and dental records accurately in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech
Review treatment plans with patients, explain procedures clearly, and assist with financial arrangements and payment options
Manage phone inquiries with professional phone etiquette, answer multi-line phone systems, and direct calls appropriately
Process insurance claims, follow up on outstanding payments, and perform medical billing tasks including CPT coding and ICD coding for accurate documentation
Maintain organized medical records, ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, and review documentation for accuracy and completeness
Assist with office management duties such as filing, faxing, data entry, and maintaining a clean and welcoming front desk environment
Support the dental team by coordinating care plans, handling intake procedures, and managing patient flow efficiently
Skills
Extensive experience in dental office administration with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT)
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Dentrix Ascend, or similar platforms; familiarity with Epic or Meditech is a plus
Knowledge of insurance verification processes including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10-key), and familiarity with health information management software like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks
Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
Prior clinic or dental experience is preferred; familiarity with medical billing, medical collection processes, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and care plan coordination is advantageous
Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clerical support experience
Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and office management tasks
