Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
Schedule appointments efficiently while managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy
Verify insurance benefits, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verifications using platforms like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
Explain treatment plans clearly to patients, review documentation, and ensure understanding of care options
Collect payments, process medical billing including CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10/ICD-9 codes, and Meditech documentation review
Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
Manage front desk operations including filing, data entry, appointment reminders, and handling patient inquiries with excellent phone etiquette
Assist with intake procedures for new patients and update medical history forms while ensuring accuracy in health information management
Support clinic staff by coordinating care plans and facilitating communication between patients and dental providers
Experience
Prior experience in a dental office or healthcare setting is highly preferred; clinic experience is a plus
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical coding (ICD coding), and medical billing processes
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms like Meditech or Epic
Experience with insurance verification procedures including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines
Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10 key typing)
Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient service excellence and office management expertise
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
