Overview
Join our dynamic dental practice as a Dental Receptionist, where your energetic and welcoming demeanor will set the tone for an exceptional patient experience. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring smooth administrative operations while supporting clinical staff with essential documentation and communication. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will contribute to a positive, efficient environment that prioritizes patient care and confidentiality.
Duties
Greet patients warmly, schedule appointments, and manage patient check-in and check-out processes with professionalism and enthusiasm
Verify patient insurance coverage, process payments, and handle medical collections accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
Maintain precise medical records by reviewing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
Assist with medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and insurance claims submission to ensure timely reimbursement from Medicare and other health plans
Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and ensure seamless communication regarding patient treatment schedules and follow-up appointments
Manage phone communication with patients, insurance companies, and vendors using excellent phone etiquette while providing exceptional customer service
Perform clerical tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), document review, and managing electronic health records (EHR systems) efficiently
Skills
Strong knowledge of medical administrative support functions including medical office management and front desk operations
Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential
Experience with medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), billing procedures, and health insurance processes including Medicare claims processing
Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation review and office tasks
Exceptional patient service skills combined with phone communication expertise and proper phone etiquette
Ability to handle medical records securely while adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies
Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
Clinic experience or prior medical office experience is preferred to ensure a smooth transition into our fast-paced environment
