Duties
Prepare treatment rooms with sterile dental instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
Assist the dentist chairside during procedures by handling dental instruments, managing suction devices, and ensuring patient comfort.
Take and develop dental x-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, while adhering to all radiation safety protocols and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
Conduct pre-appointment assessments including vital signs and review medical histories to support safe treatment planning.
Follow strict infection prevention management practices by sterilizing dental instruments, maintaining aseptic techniques, and adhering to dental sterilization procedures.
Support patient management by providing clear explanations of procedures, assisting with appointment scheduling, and ensuring a positive patient experience from check-in to check-out.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Dental Surgical Assistant or in a similar dental assisting role within a clinical setting.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures related to clinical dentistry.
Proficiency with dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, sterilization tools.
Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control policies aligned with HIPAA standards.
Ability to perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques efficiently while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
Excellent communication skills for patient care instructions and collaboration with the dental team.
Certification in radiography or X-ray technology preferred; additional certifications in infection control or medical documentation are advantageous.
Knowledge of medical terminology and medical imaging practices is beneficial for comprehensive patient care.
