About the Practice
Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Dental Director the incumbent shall coordinate and administer procedures within the dental department assuring high quality dental care. Such activities include, but are not limited to, performing and providing training to dental staff; promoting teamwork and team effectiveness; supervision of Dental Specialist, Hygienist, Registered Dental Assistant, Dental Assistants, and Dental Receptionist.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Assists with the policies, procedures, and protocols for use in the dental program, in consultation with Program Manager, using quality dental principles, practices, and procedures.
2. Provide general dental care to the clinic population i.e.: endodontics, prosthetic, fixed and removable periodontal, oral surgery and restorative dental services, dental emergencies, and periodontal maintenance therapy.
3. Assist with supervision, training and coordination of dental staff functions and duties. Maintaining clear channels of communication with all dental and clinic staff members.
4. Complies with OSHA, and all State and Federal regulations.
5. Maintains compliance with program Hazard Communication, Safety and Infection Control Programs.
6. Keep current with new techniques relating to all aspects of dental field and related areas of the clinic.
7. Assist with the development and completion of dental reports required maintaining program compliance with established standards and reporting requirements. Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
8. Actively attend general and dental staff meeting keeping the Dental Director apprise of current activities and situation within the Dental Department.
9. Assume the duties of the Dental Director during the Director’s absence.
10. Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Licensed to practice dentistry in the State of California by the Board of Dental Examiners.
2. Certificate of completion from an accredited dental school.
3. Current CPR and DEA Certificates
4. Ability to work and communicate effectively with a wide variety of people and positions in field, local, State, Federal and private organizations within the health care profession.
5. Valid unrestricted California driver’s license. Individual must be insurable by Rancheria’s automobile insurer.
6. Required to prepare written and oral reports as necessary
7. Basic computer skills are required.
8. At least two years’ previous experience in private practice or clinical practice.
9. Post job offer: CPR/BLS certification, TB test, and annual flu shot (during flu season) are required as a condition of employment, unless a medical/religious accommodation request is provided and approved. Hepatitis B Vaccine will be offered at no cost to employees, but it is not required.
NATIVE PREFERENCE
Preference in hiring is given to either the most qualified applicant or a Native American candidate who meets the minimum qualifications. When two (2) or more Native American candidates have comparable qualifications, the following order of preference shall apply: (1) Members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (2) Spouses or domestic partners (certified through Tribal Court) of members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (3) Parents of children of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (4) All other documented Native Americans; (5) All other applicants in accordance with Title 25, U.S. Code, Section 472 and 473. Applicants claiming Native preference must submit verification of Indian eligibility.
