Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs dental care and treatment,conducts dental exams, reviews medical histories, and evaluates symptoms to patients..
Performs routine cleanings, restorations, and extractions as needed.
Collaborates with staff to ensure seamless operations and optimal patient care.
Evaluates patients requiring dental care beyond basic services and provides appropriate recommendations.
Documents all dental services provided to ensure compliance with FCH’s healthcare standards and policies.
Educates patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and utilizes standard precautions when delivering dental care.
Supervises staff, coordinates daily operations and addresses patient and staffing needs.
Ensures sterilization and disinfection of equipment.
May provides in-service training to healthcare staff on dental hygiene, dental care, dental emergencies, and treatment techniques.
Performs other duties as assigned to support FCH’s goals, objectives and values.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
Knowledge of treatment approaches, evidence-based practices and assessment standards.
Knowledge and expertise in dental health, and the diagnosis and treatment of individuals.
Ability to stay current with advancements in dentistry through ongoing education and training.
Strong attention to detail, follow-up and timely completion of assigned tasks.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrates outstanding judgment, sensitivity and high discretion.
Ability to balance competing demands and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with leadership, staff, patients, the public and external partners.
Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations effectively and calmly.
Understanding of the challenges and constraints of providing care in a correctional setting.
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic abilities.
Possess strong judgment, discretion, high level of confidentiality, flexibility and integrity.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited school of dental medicine
One (1) year of general dentistry experience
Required Certifications and Licenses
Must have and maintain current dental licensure within the State of Georgia
Must have and maintain a current DEA registration
Must have or attain a BLS Certification prior to the first day of employment
Preferred Qualification
Experience working in correctional medicine

This position requires the physical and mental ability to perform essential job functions, including frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting, bending, pushing, pushing, twisting, kneeling, crouching, grasping, and repetitive motion. Must be able to perform repetitive tasks, such as typing for extended periods of time, viewing a computer and reading a variety of materials. Work Environment
Work is performed in a correctional healthcare environment with exposure to noise, communicable diseases, controlled access areas, and unpredictable conditions. Employees must comply with all safety, security, infection control and emergency response protocols. Reasonable accommodation may be provided in accordance with the ADA, provided that it does not present an undue hardship on the company’s operations.
The Dentist is responsible for providing comprehensive dental care and treatment to patients, ensuring compliance with facility regulations and quality care standards. This role requires clinical expertise, documentation accuracy, and adherence to security protocols. The Dentist is also responsible for recommending strategies for optimal delivery of dental care and maintaining clinical practice policy and procedures, quality assurance and improvement processes. This position will report directly to the Chief Medical Officer.
