Job Description

Dentist

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Dentist to provide comprehensive dental care for individuals residing in a State Supported Living Center and select individuals receiving services in community-based settings. Working under the direction of the Dental Director, the Dentist will deliver preventive, restorative, and advanced dental treatment while promoting optimal oral health for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This position requires a provider who is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with all state, federal, and facility standards.

Schedule

4-day work week

Tuesday through Friday

10-hour shifts

No after-hours or on-call responsibilities

Schedule begins following completion of required facility orientation and training

Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive dental examinations, diagnosis, preventive care, restorative treatment, and other dental services.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that prioritize patient safety and best clinical practices.

Prepare written treatment plans with appropriate justification for irreversible dental procedures.

Deliver compassionate care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities residing within the Supported Living Center and approved community settings.

Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation in the facility's electronic medical and dental record systems.

Utilize digital dentistry technologies and electronic health records efficiently.

Collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, dental assistants, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Educate patients and caregivers on proper oral hygiene and preventive dental care.

Maintain compliance with infection control standards and all applicable clinical guidelines.

Follow all facility Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to CMS standards, HHSC regulations, and facility policies and directives.

Perform duties with professionalism while working independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.

Current, unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Texas.

Current unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.

Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Experience using electronic health records and digital dentistry technology.

Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.

Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Ability to provide safe, compassionate care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Certifications & Licensure

Candidates must maintain the following throughout the duration of the assignment:

Current, unrestricted Texas Dental License

Current unrestricted DEA Registration

Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)

Current American Heart Association BLS (CPR) certification
