Job Summary:
The Dentist provides comprehensive dental care to patients at the tribal health clinic, focusing on both preventive and therapeutic dental services. This role involves diagnosing and treating dental conditions, educating patients about oral health, and contributing to the overall health and wellness of the tribal community. The Dentist will work closely with other healthcare professionals to deliver culturally competent care and ensure the highest standards of dental practice.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Conduct thorough dental examinations and assessments, including reviewing medical histories and performing clinical evaluations.
· Diagnose and treat a wide range of dental conditions, including cavities, gum disease, and oral infections.
· Perform dental procedures such as fillings, extractions, root canals, and crowns with precision and care.
· Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs and preferences.
· Provide preventive care, including cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants.
· Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations.
· Offer guidance on preventing dental issues and maintaining long-term oral health.
· Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including medical professionals, dental hygienists, and dental assistants, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
· Coordinate with specialists for referrals and follow-up care as needed.
· Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and treatment strategies.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and diagnostic results.
· Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for dental documentation and patient confidentiality.
· Prepare and review reports on patient outcomes and clinic performance as needed.
· Engage with the tribal community to promote oral health and raise awareness about dental care services.
· Participate in community health events, school programs, and outreach activities to educate and provide dental care to underserved populations.
· Respect and incorporate tribal cultural practices and values into patient care and community interactions.
· Stay informed about the latest advancements in dental technology, techniques, and best practices.
· Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
· Adhere to professional ethical standards and clinic policies.
· Ensure that all dental equipment and instruments are properly maintained, sterilized, and in good working condition.
· Follow infection control protocols and ensure a clean and safe clinical environment.
· Assist with the development and implementation of clinic procedures and policies to enhance efficiency and patient care.
· Must have a working knowledge and be able to adhere to all tribal ordnances, policies and procedures, EPA permitting process, THPO permitting process and any other regulations that are applicable to the grant projects.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
