Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Dentists remove tooth decay, fill cavities, and repair fractured teeth. Dentists diagnose and treat problems with patients' teeth, gums, and related parts of the mouth. They provide advice and instruction on taking care of the teeth and gums and on diet choices that affect oral health.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
Treat problems associated with the teeth and surrounding tissues in the mouth.
Provide advice and administer care to assist in preventing future dental problems.
Provide instruction on brushing, flossing, diet, the use of fluorides and all other aspects related to dental care.
Filling cavities
Removing tooth decay
Examining x-rays
Placing protective sealants on teeth
Repairing fractured teeth
Straighten teeth
Extract teeth
Create models for dentures to replace teeth that are missing
Write prescriptions for antibiotics and administer anesthetics
Patient assessment
Administer anesthesia
Restore teeth
Responsible for the direct supervision of the Dental Assistant
Responsible for the direct and general supervision of the Registered Dental Hygienist
OTHER DUTIES:
Other job duties as assigned or requested.
