DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role focuses on providing quality dental care to individuals at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Smithfield. You will support inmate health through consistent and compassionate clinical service. As a Dentist, you will perform the following duties:
Patient Care: Provide routine dental exams and treatments for the inmate population
Clinical Decision Making: Evaluate dental needs and determine appropriate care plans
Team Collaboration: Work closely with auxiliary staff to ensure smooth clinical operations
Record Management: Maintain accurate and timely dental records for each patient
Preventive Guidance: Educate patients on oral health practices and preventive care
Treatment Planning: Outline and implement effective treatment strategies

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Part-time employment, up to 30 hours per week
The work schedule is to be determined. You will not be required to work weekends.
Eligible for full retirement benefits as early as age 55

Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Hourly rate: In some cases, the hourly rate may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly rate of $83.27 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Graduation from an approved school of dentistry.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Special Requirement:
You must possess a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirement:
You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
