Job Description
Job Summary: The Educator-Dentist provides mentorship and instruction to School of Dentistry students assigned to preclinical and clinic education. Manages unexpected situations related to the dental treatment of patients, such as untoward reactions to treatment and emergencies. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Doctorate Degree in Dentistry or equivalent required. Minimum one year of experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge in the discipline being taught. Possess training and competence to manage unexpected situations related to the dental treatment of patients. Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in teaching and presentations. Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload. Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure. Distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: Current DDS licensure and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.
