Overview
Join our dynamic pediatric dental team as an Entry-Level Dental Assistant/ sterilization support and embark on a rewarding career dedicated to improving children's oral health! This paid position offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a lively, supportive environment. You will assist dentists during procedures, ensure patient comfort, and uphold the highest standards of infection control and clinical confidentiality. No prior experience is necessary—just a passion for helping kids and a desire to grow in the dental field!
Duties
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is ready for patient care, following strict dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management protocols.
Assist the dentist during pediatric dental procedures by handing instruments, managing suction, and providing chairside support in four-handed dentistry setups.
Take and develop dental X-ray images
Record accurate medical documentation, including vital signs, medical history updates, and dental charts while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
Educate young patients on oral hygiene practices in an engaging manner to promote lifelong dental health habits.
Manage patient flow by greeting families as a friendly Dental Receptionist, scheduling appointments, and updating medical records in EMR systems.
Follow all healthcare infection control standards and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff alike.
Skills to develop
Open dental knowledge
Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and procedures, including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry practices.
Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding relevant to pediatric care.
Experience with dental X-ray techniques and operation of 3D scanners or other medical imaging tools.
Strong understanding of infection prevention management, dental sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection control expertise.
Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while adhering to strict aseptic techniques.
Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to young patients and collaborate effectively with team members in four-handed dentistry settings.
Knowledge of anatomy relevant to pediatric patients to assist with oral surgery or other specialized treatments confidently.
