Position Summary
The Entry Level Orthodontic Assistant provides chairside support to our orthodontist, ensures smooth patient flow, helps create a positive experience and a clean, sterilized environment for patients and their families, and captures accurate and high-quality diagnostic records that are essential for orthodontic treatment planning. This entry-level role is ideal for someone newer to the dental field who is eager to grow in a supportive environment with mentorship and hands-on learning.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures (bonding, adjustments, records appointments)
Take and upload diagnostic records including intraoral/extraoral photos, iTero digital scans, CBCT, panoramic and cephalometric x-rays (training available)
Ensure accuracy and quality of all records while keeping patients comfortable throughout the process
Properly organize and manage patient records in digital systems for orthodontist review
Support sterilization and cleanliness of imaging/scanning equipment and clinical spaces
Support patient education on oral hygiene and appliance care
Accurately chart treatment notes and update records
Maintain clinic and practice cleanliness and adhere to infection control protocols
Work closely with the dental team to ensure efficient operations, exceptional patient care, and support preventive dental activities
Assisting experienced orthodontic assistant in various tasks
Assist with front desk/reception/marketing duties when necessary.
Provide patients (and parents) with a warm and reassuring experience, especially during initial visits
Follow California Dental Board regulations and OSHA standards
Qualifications
Completion of a Dental Assisting program (Preferred)
California X-Ray Certification. (Preferred)
Current CPR Certification. (Preferred)
