Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Expanded Duties Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will support both general and specialized dental procedures, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient clinic operations. Experience with EMR systems, Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic is highly desirable, along with a solid understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and pediatric dentistry. The successful candidate will be committed to maintaining HIPAA compliance and implementing aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
Duties
Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry with chairside support
Perform vital signs measurement and medical imaging such as X-rays and 3D scans in accordance with safety protocols
Manage electronic medical records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic while ensuring HIPAA compliance
Prepare treatment rooms with proper infection control and aseptic techniques
Provide patient education on dental procedures, oral hygiene, and post-treatment care
Support administrative tasks including dental reception duties, scheduling appointments, and managing medical documentation and records
Conduct four-handed dentistry to improve efficiency during procedures
Assist with dental laboratory tasks such as taking impressions and handling dental prosthetics
Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding relevant to dental assisting
Ensure the proper use of medical imaging equipment and maintain infection control standards throughout all procedures
Requirements
Proven experience in dental assisting within a clinical setting; familiarity with general dentistry procedures preferred
Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is highly desirable
Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic; experience with medical documentation and records management required
Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely adhering to infection control standards
Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry
Experience with 3D scanners or advanced imaging tools is a plus
Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration
Certification in dental assisting or related field preferred; additional training in endodontics or prosthodontics is advantageous
Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and practicing aseptic techniques at all times
