Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our dynamic team on a part-time schedule, with full-time appreciation for dedicated professionals. Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures, including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pediatric treatments, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques.
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring an aseptic environment in compliance with infection control protocols.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring accurate medical imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning.
Manage patient records efficiently within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, maintaining HIPAA compliance at all times.
Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort before, during, and after procedures to promote safety and well-being.
Support the dental receptionist with appointment scheduling and patient communication to enhance the overall patient experience.
Maintain thorough knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical documentation standards to ensure precise medical coding and recordkeeping.
Requirements
Valid Expanded Function Dental Assistant certification with experience in general dentistry; pediatric dentistry experience is highly desirable.
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Practiceworks, Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic or other medical documentation platforms is a plus.
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and aseptic technique within a dental setting.
Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dental procedures.
Experience with chairside assisting in various specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety standards; familiarity with 3D scanners is advantageous.
Excellent communication skills combined with a professional attitude; ability to work effectively in a team environment supporting four-handed dentistry practices.
