Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our vibrant dental team. Responsibilities
Assist dentists with complex procedures including restorations, crown preparations, and prosthodontics using advanced dental techniques.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) ensuring compliance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
Prepare and process dental instruments and materials, maintaining strict sterilization procedures in accordance with infection control policies.
Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Perform chairside assisting during procedures involving oral surgery, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and other general dentistry treatments.
Monitor vital signs and assist in medical imaging when necessary to support comprehensive patient care.
Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and providing excellent customer service as a dental receptionist when needed.
Maintain dental equipment including 3D scanners, dental x-ray machines, and other clinical tools to ensure optimal performance.
Follow clinical confidentiality policies diligently while delivering compassionate patient care in a team-oriented environment.
Requirements
Valid Expanded Functions Dental Assistant certification or license as required by state law.
Proven experience in dental assisting within a busy dental clinic setting, preferably with exposure to pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, or prosthodontics.
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control standards including dental sterilization procedures.
Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety protocols and radiation guidelines.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages.
Knowledge of dental equipment operation including 3D scanners and other digital imaging tools.
Commitment to clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare infection prevention and control practices.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment practicing four-handed dentistry techniques for optimal patient comfort.
