Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our vibrant dental team. In this role, you will perform advanced chairside procedures, assist with complex dental treatments, and ensure seamless patient care experiences. Your expertise will help elevate our practice’s quality of care while maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence and infection control. Responsibilities
Assist dentists with a wide range of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry.
Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, temporary restorations, and placement of sealants following state regulations.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA and infection control policies.
Prepare and process dental instruments and equipment using sterilization procedures aligned with infection prevention management standards.
Manage patient flow efficiently by updating medical records, documenting treatment details accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, and assisting with patient management software.
Conduct vital signs assessment and medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient care.
Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while providing excellent patient care in general dentistry settings.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with proficiency in chairside assisting, dental terminology, and dental equipment operation.
Knowledge of EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for medical documentation and records management.
Certification in dental radiography (X-ray) and familiarity with dental sterilization procedures.
Strong understanding of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards.
Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while adhering to strict sterilization protocols.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly to pediatric and adult patients alike.
Knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, oral surgery procedures, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
