Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team! In this vital role, you will support dentists by performing advanced clinical procedures, managing patient care, and ensuring the smooth operation of the dental practice. Your expertise in dental assisting, infection control, and clinical procedures will help deliver exceptional patient experiences and promote optimal oral health. Responsibilities
Assist dentists with expanded functions procedures including crown preparations, coronal polishing, and other advanced restorative tasks in accordance with state regulations.
Prepare and process dental instruments and materials using sterilization procedures aligned with infection prevention management standards.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including digital imaging and 3D scans, ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.
Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Perform chairside assisting during various treatments such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, maintaining aseptic techniques at all times.
Monitor vital signs and medical history documentation to support safe treatment planning for patients of all ages, including pediatrics.
Support front desk operations by coordinating appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing patient communication as a dental receptionist when needed.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and dental sterilization procedures.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical confidentiality policies.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or similar healthcare software is a plus.
Certification in X-ray safety and proficiency in dental x-ray techniques; additional training in oral surgery or endodontics is advantageous.
Strong understanding of infection control protocols and healthcare infection prevention standards within a dental setting.
Ability to perform four-handed dentistry efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including pediatric patients and their families.
