Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our vibrant dental team. Responsibilities
Assist dentists with complex procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring precision and efficiency.
Perform chairside assisting using aseptic techniques while maintaining strict infection control protocols.
Take and develop X-ray images, including digital imaging and 3D scans, adhering to safety standards and proper medical imaging procedures.
Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Measure vital signs and medical history documentation to support comprehensive patient assessments.
Support front desk operations as a dental receptionist when needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient communication.
Conduct medical documentation and coding for insurance claims, ensuring proper billing for procedures performed.
Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by following infection control guidelines and sterilization procedures.
Assist with general dentistry procedures as well as specialized treatments in pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other areas of dental care.
Operate advanced dental technology such as intraoral cameras, digital X-ray units, and 3D scanners to enhance diagnostic capabilities.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control practices.
Certification or licensing as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) preferred or required depending on state regulations.
Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; familiarity with medical coding and HIPAA compliance is essential.
Strong understanding of dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings.
Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and accurately while maintaining aseptic technique.
Knowledge of medical terminology and medical imaging practices relevant to dental care.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate with the dental team.
Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
