Job Summary
Join our dynamic dental team as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), where your expertise will elevate patient care and streamline clinical operations. Duties
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry treatments.

Perform expanded functions such as placing fillings, temporary crowns, and other procedures authorized under state regulations.

Operate and maintain dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and digital imaging systems while ensuring proper sterilization and infection prevention protocols are followed.

Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.

Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft; document treatment details accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and adhering to aseptic techniques to prevent infection.

Support patient management by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and explaining procedures clearly to ensure comfort and understanding.

Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team through four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient experience.

Maintain clinical confidentiality policies rigorously while handling sensitive medical documentation and records.

Assist with patient education on oral health care practices tailored for pediatric patients when applicable.

Requirements
Valid Expanded Functions Dental Assistant certification or license as per state regulations.

Proven experience in general dentistry with proficiency in chairside assisting and dental instrument processing.

Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across various specialties such as prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatrics.

Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or other healthcare patient management software is a plus.

Competence in taking dental X-rays (including digital imaging) and operating advanced dental equipment such as 3D scanners.

Understanding of infection prevention management, sterilization procedures, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards.

Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages while demonstrating professionalism in medical documentation and records management.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment that emphasizes teamwork through four-handed dentistry practices.

Knowledge of HIPAA compliance policies to ensure the confidentiality and security of patient information.

How many Ops can you manage at once?

Are you willing to help your co-assistant manage his/her operatory, hygiene sterilize instruments, unpack shipments, update the ongoing inventory list and they help you as well? Teamwork and being kind to one another is required : )
If you can only focus on one operatory and not help others please do not apply.

Do you need a Dentrix refresher? We unfortunately don’t have time to teach Dentrix so please do not apply if you've used Dentrix in the past but are unable to write notes, schedule patients, do recall/call patients and document using the Office Journal, etc
Please list 2 licensed dentist references from the past 2 dental ADULT offices you've worked at. Include the full name, cell phone number, and give them a heads up that they'll be receiving a call to get feedback. References must be licensed dentists not office managers or other dental staff.
