Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our growing dental team with a start date of September 1st. The EFDA will work closely with dentists and other clinical staff to provide high-quality patient care, perform expanded clinical procedures as permitted by state regulations, and help ensure an efficient and positive patient experience.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, team-focused, and committed to delivering exceptional dental care in a patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures.

Perform expanded functions duties in accordance with state regulations and licensure requirements.

Place and carve restorative materials as authorized.

Take dental radiographs and intraoral images.

Perform coronal polishing, sealant placement, fluoride treatments, and other permitted preventive procedures.

Fabricate and place temporary restorations and crowns.

Take impressions, digital scans, and bite registrations.

Educate patients on oral hygiene, treatment plans, and post-operative care instructions.

Prepare, sterilize, and maintain instruments and treatment rooms.

Accurately document patient information and clinical notes in the electronic dental record.

Maintain compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and safety standards.

Support a positive patient experience by providing excellent customer service and compassionate care.

Qualifications (Required)
Current EFDA certification/license in accordance with state requirements.

Current dental assistant certification.

Current CPR/BLS certification.

Minimum of one year of dental assisting experience preferred.

Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and infection control standards.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency with dental software and electronic health records.

Preferred
Experience with CAD/CAM technology.

Experience with digital radiography and intraoral scanners.

Experience in general dentistry, restorative dentistry, or a specialty practice.

Familiarity with Dentrix Ascend.

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
