Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) for Fridays only. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a passion for patient care, and the ability to support our dental team in delivering efficient and exceptional dental services. This role involves assisting with various dental procedures, managing patient flow, and ensuring adherence to infection control protocols.
Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, and oral surgery treatments.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans when applicable.
Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Open Dental & DTX while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Perform chairside assisting duties using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Process and sterilize dental instruments following infection prevention management protocols.
Monitor vital signs and assist with patient management to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for pediatric and general dentistry patients.
Support the dental team by handling administrative tasks such as updating medical documentation and scheduling appointments as needed.
Requirements
Certified Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) credential or equivalent certification.
Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Open Dental & DTX.
Strong understanding of dental terminology, equipment, sterilization procedures, and infection control standards.
Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience with pediatric patients preferred.
Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety guidelines.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients about oral health care practices.
Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
